#AceSocialNews – April.12: Furious 7 managed to speed off with $60.6 million over the weekend, a steep drop of about 70% since its record-breaking $147 million debut, according to box-office tracking firm Rentrak.
"That’s to be expected. Just being so incredibly strong right out of the gate, it’s not surprising at all that it would have a drop like this," says Rentrak’s Paul Dergarabedian. Reaching a quarter of a billion dollars in just 10 days, "it’s a testament to the incredible outpouring of fan enthusiasm for the film. Audiences are responding to the film in a way that’s unprecedented for a spring release."
