3 points is all that matters today. Denayer off injured we hope he is ok for Thursday. We were not superb today, we seem to make it hard for ourselves too often and today was no different.
Dundee had most of the ball in the first 15 minutes pegging Celtic back in the early staged. I thought the relationship, as Ronny would say between defence and midfield and strikers wasn’t there today. Commons and Forrest got some time on the park, so looking back in was an ‘ok’ day.
Celtic then came more into the game, the link up play improved, Commons, Forrest, Guidetti, Van Dijk all passing up on good chances. Just before half time some wonderful wide play by James Forrest winning a free kick 2 yards from the corner flag stand side. Commons whipped in a killer cross, Stokes made a back to front post run and headed home with power, 1-0 Celtic and a goal from the training ground for sure

Denayer went off at half time, he seemed to be ok as he walked off so let’s hope precaution is the reason. Ambrose is a decent player, once every now and then. I don’t think he is a bomb scare, he is just too relaxed, when 50,000 people and everyone watching around the World get all panicky, Efe just seems to be confident. He nearly got caught a few times but Craig Gordon and Van Dijk saved him.
2-0 came 9 minutes into the second half, again Forrest with a superb run got himself to the goal line cut it back to the penalty spot and ‘Super John Guidetti’ doesn’t miss from there. 2-0, game over, let’s all relax with a cup of Bovril and enjoy the rest of the game…

Celtic lately have done this, got ahead and then lost a goal or didn’t get the 2nd goal, thankfully luck has been on our side the last 2 months or so. Games we should have dropped points we never, so with no Brown and a few injures, Lustig also, we take today’s score.
Dundee did manage a goal through Clarkson, a fine signing for Dundee he has turned out to be. Ball into the box, nobody willing to attack it and 2-1. It made the last 20 minutes hard but looking back I think we had more chances to get a 3rd goal. Kayal had the ball in the net on 92 minutes and I will have to see it again, he looked onside to me
We now await Red Bull Strasberg on Thursday, we need to win. I hope we can fill the stadium and get the job done with a game to spare. Top of the league, nearly through in the Europa League with room to spare and in the Semi Final of the league cup, in reality we can’t ask for much more after the start to the season we had

Final score: Celtic 2-1 Dundee

Man of the match: James Forrest

5 Month Report Card On Ronny Deila

This job means a lot to Ronny, no doubting it now

This job means a lot to Ronny, no doubting it now

By @ShaunyGibson  Used to be @ShaunyNews

6 June 2014, just over 5 Months ago now since Ronny was announced as Celtic Manager. We were unsure and probably still are in some quarters. At first we all liked the way he spoke, his philosophy on football and the way he wanted to play. I think since then Ronny has grown into being the manager of one of the top sides in the World. Ronny will look back at some of the things he has said and cringe all managers do. But what we are slowly seeing is the winner in Ronny starting to appear. He is not shy with the media anymore, I remember he did an interview and people wrote about how his hands were covering his face and tried to say whatever about why he did it. Looking back I think Ronny underestimated not just the job at hand but the expectation level that comes with being Celtic manager.

On Sunday against Aberdeen we had a chance to go top of the league, we had flown back from Europa League duty on the Friday giving Celtic just one day to prepare for the game. Looking back the game was huge. The scenes at the end with the fans and the players were superb, then in step Ronny Deila, what we seen was a man with the weight of the World taken from his shoulders, till the next game that is. We seen the hunger in the man, we seen the fire in his celebration with the fans. This I think will be a defining moment for Ronny and his players.

I have always believed a football manager must believe in himself before his players will believe in him. Sunday showed proof that Ronny has his dressing room for sure. The player respect their manager. I think at first it took a while judging body language at the time. We have the Stokes refusing to shake Ronny’s hand in pre-season, something I think Ronny would have told Stokes was a NO-NO!

Ronny StokesLooking back to that moment I really did think ‘Ronny doesn’t have his dressing room’ I managed much lower level, East Of Scotland with kids and adults, I knew when players didn’t like me, but 9/10 I got them on-side. 2 options are open to you as a manager, work the player out the club or sit down with the player and show friendship is there outside football, I believe this is what Ronny did with Stokes back then in the early days when we were rolling teams over in pre-season. As a player, if your manager puts his hand out, you best well shake it!

As we toiled out of the Champions league and were given two shots at it we ended up in the Europa league where we not need 1 point from a possible 6 or for Astra to take something from Zagreb. So we could be top of the league, last 32 of the Europa and Final of the League cup come the end of January. If all that happens, Ronny will have won his doubters over, well some.

Starting to run games for Celtic

Starting to run games for Celtic

A big plus for Ronny and Celtic is the sudden huge improvement in a player Ronny saved from the scrap heap back in Norway 3 seasons ago in Stefan Johansen, he is starting to create and score goals, he is a midfield player we have been crying out for. Many tried to compare him to Joe Ledley and unfairly in my opinion, Johansen is a kid at this level at the ripe age of 23, he will only get better and better. Craig Gordon has been superb, Denayer a huge plus and the team when all fit you see a decent side there. I think Brown getting injured in pre-season didn’t help Ronny but when others may have faded into the background, withdrawn into themselves, Ronny made himself show in-front of the media, he was asked awkward questions but here we are early November and we have a Manager who is learning to cope with the Scottish media and the Scottish game and Celtic as a club.We are seeing a team come together, Ronny was hit by “You must give your team chips” The European way is hard way in Scotland, maybe as a country we are ready for new ideas, look below, the players are bonding well and this ‘might’ keep players here, understand not all player are after a pay check, Larsson was one, he wanted moments and he got them

We are on a good run now and I truly believe we have a gem of a manager in Ronny. His tactics are becoming more visible, his formation I can see now, he plays a very attack minded game, when say, Izzy goes forward, the left winger sits, when Van Dijk comes forward with the ball you will see Brown, Mulgrew or Johansen fill the gap. It takes a long time to create this knowing what is around you on the pitch. Ronny said himself he had very little time to coach the players so much of his coaching will have been done during games and going over videos of games. Either way, I really think we are slowly starting to see something happening, it could be superb. Add in Guidetti who by all accounts wants to stay, the future looks good good for Ronny and Celtic

A must win game for Celtic and to be fair this was Celtic at their best. Sure we were playing lowly Ross County up in the Highlands but the first half was probably our best half in a long time. Dingwall is not an easy to place to go for anyone but pass marks all over the park today. The only bad point was the injury to Emilio Izaguirre, we hope that isn’t too bad for the player as we need him and he is the only recognised left back at the club and also Johansen holding his groin at the end, but he was smiling, so lets hope good news on both players, Johansen gave his after match speech as man of the match and seemed ok, Ronny said Izzy seems ok, Ronny thinks no break, lets hope the Club Dr has given Ronny good advice

Stefan Johansen ran the show for most of the game and really was superb. Celtic took an early lead on  10 minutes a cross into the box, the ball landed at the feet of the inrushing John Guidetti who smashed the ball home for 1-0 and a good start.

Celtic had to wait 3 minutes for 2-0, Guidetti wide squared the ball into the box and there was Callum McGregor to fire home and get himself back on the team sheet. At this stage Celtic were rampant. The strings were being pulled by Johansen who was knocking balls through, over and past the Ross County defence for fun

3-0 came on the half hour mark with a superb pass through to Stokes by Johansen who curled a peach of a shot low past the Ross County keeper. 4 minutes later and it was 4-0, a corner on the far side was hammered at goal by Lustig but the ball deflected back and there was Denayer to hammer high into the net for a brilliant first half. Celtic were solid and really going all guns

7 minutes into the second half Emilio Izaguirre went down screaming and watching the tackle it seemed to bend his leg just around the middle of the shin. Let’s hope it is nothing serious. Ronny’s plans I am guessing would have been  to wait and put Matthews on for Lustig as it was the first game back for both. Matthews slotted into right back with Mulgrew picking up the left back spot. Nir Bitton replaces Mikael Lustig on the hour mark with Stefan Scepovic replacing John Guidetti  5 minutes later

Anthony Stokes got his second and Celtic’s fifth 13 minutes into the second half, he gathered the ball 30 yards out took a stride and touch and you could hear the ping as the ball rattled in off the post. Superb strike by Stokes and the goal of the game.

Stokes gets his 2nd, what a Strike

Stokes gets his 2nd, what a Strike

In the second half Celtic were not as fluent as they were in the 1st half but with 3 substitutions  breaking up the play and Celtic never really got to the heights of the 1st half. Ross County had a few half chances with Celtic taking the foot of the pedal, probably to the annoyance of Ronny in the dugout. Scepovic should have scored on 80 minutes, Scott brown 20 yards out slid the ball through the defence and Scepovic should have scored, sadly his shot went past the left hand post. Callum McGregor was through one on one with the keeper only to see his shot saved. Celtic looked in no trouble at all in the 2nd half just never got the ball wide as much, Johansen fell out the game and the whole pattern of the game changed. Sometimes you don’t want to hear the half time whistle because everyone is playing superb

Final Score Ross County 0-5 Celtic
