My Pre-match Superbowl XLIX – Seattle Vs New England – From a Scottish ‘Soccer’ Manager/Coach

B8Ua7NtCMAABzUG

By @ShaunyNews

Now this should be fun! I do weekly Pre-match reports and after game reports as well as random articles on players, the team ect for Glasgow Celtic Football Club vie The Celtic Network on ‘Football’ I won’t call it ‘Soccer’ as 95% of Earth call it Football, the other 5% comes from the USA who call it Soccer. American Football is a sport I have watched,  I know the rules, but it’s boring! In reality only 12 minutes of actual game time is played as the rest is a turn around, in-between plays etc. I watch Gridiron and I get bored very easy. When you watch Football and report on it and it’s been your life for 30 years, it becomes easy! I read a few REAL Super Bowl reports and apart from players I understood it well, sport is sport, tactics are tactics, sadly, just my opinion, American Football is just too slow, I know the Super Bowl is a whole different thing, it’s when people pay ridiculous amounts of money to have a half time advert on TV.

The problem with the Super bowl is simple, it’s too Hollywood.  It is a money maker 1st and a sport 2nd. I speak to a few guys from all over the USA, some like American football, others don’t, many like Basketball, Baseball or the NHL. The only sport I can say I enjoy are NFL games, it’s end to end, never stops and is enjoyable, the only issue I have with the NHL is players fighting, I know it’s part of the game but does it not come into the kids game?

From where I sit Seattle Seahawks are the favourite, and the betting on it seems to show they are favourites to win the game, but like any sport, when the main prize is on offer, when it really matters, some players fall into the lights showing the game, floodlights we call them here, or a Rabbit caught in the headlight. I always asked my players to NEVER play the occasion, sure, take it in before, warming up must happen, but lap up the experience of a big game there. Once the game starts it’s the team who have more focus on the day who win, you win as a team, you lose as a team, this is the fact on team sport Worldwide.

We often mock American football as a game for cowards, the amount of protective gear worn is unreal, I am sure some big dude hitting you on the run at 15Mph will hurt regardless. But when we compare American football to Rugby and Aussie Rules, we see these guys are as rough as American football players, often worse, but wear no protection, here let me show you

So good luck to the fans of both teams, I might watch the full game or highlights when in the morning. It never really caught on here. There is a European League for American style football, many US  young kids who are heading for stardom are sent over here to learn to play against adults, some do well, shine and go home to make it good and make a lot of money, some go home and get farmed out more than a cow in a farm. It’s the same in all team sports when you send a young kid out on trial, as we call it here

Give me ‘Fitbaw’ Scottish for Football ANY DAY. It’s something I love, know, understand and it was a HUGE part of my life. Football is more tribal, 150 years+  old and has more meaning to the fans. I think so anyway, you tell me

Rangers have 3 weeks of money left as the story takes a new twist – As TCN Re-opens

Are we ready for a re-run?

Are we ready for a re-run?

By @ShaunyGibson – Used to be @ ShaunyNews

My source played for, many clubs in Scotland. He managed one of these teams in the 1990’s, and was a youth coach with Rangers till they died. He was my son’s coach for 2 seasons. I can’t and won’t say his name. He has been capped for Scotland also, he also appeared for a brief moment in Rangers colours in the movie A Shot at Glory which also starred Ally McCoist, Brian Cox, Michael Keaton and Owen Coyle and many other Scottish football players making an appearance

Well, we had a chat me and this chap. He has ear’s to many people in his role in Scottish Football. He is a “Liked guy” within the halls of the SFA. I wouldn’t say he was a brown nose (Not blue nose) but he does what he has to do in order to put a roof above his family’s home and feed them. Same as ANY other football guy, they are like you and I, they go where the best money is. Also I hear the SFA are trying very hard to keep this all hush hush and have TOLD certain media to say nothing. I wonder what the price was, if true of course. There is still that conflict of interest with Rangers the SFA with Campbell Ogilvie, an issue I am told would see the removal of Mr Ogilvie in any other league on EARTH

Looking back this was all to familiar, might be me

Looking back this was all too familiar, might be me

Mike Ashley gets funding from Laxey Partners, based in the Isle of Man http://www.laxeypartners.com/ They have told Mr Ashley that in no uncertain terms will they allow one more penny, yes a penny, to be put the way of Sevco. We all know people in business, like Charles Green, Craig Whyte/White use different names, sometimes just a middle name sometimes not, they use a spouses name. Check this, anything come to mind?

http://www.fsa.gov.uk/register/firmMainSearch.do and http://www.fsa.gov.uk/register/indivMainSearch.do Others with better contacts than I can go over this and find what they need. I was once, with help from another, a good man, very close to getting a direct link between David Murray and Charles Green while Murray still owned the deeds. We were either 2 web pages away or a million, we really don’t know, but we were close I think. I won’t spend hours researching this anymore.

The day Rangers DID actually die and a plan on a grand scale to keep Rangers alive began

The day Rangers DID actually die and a plan on a grand scale to keep Rangers alive began

BUT..With TCN to make a comeback with a brand new website http://thecelticnetwork.com/ with the boss Wullie taking over again, we may decide to look further and get a certain someone to say more. Also, you can follow the new TCN @CelticNetwork15 So it is brilliant news TCN will be back, all new and shiny 😀 I can’t wait , it will be amazing fun, I know the plans and a few stories that will be worked on, and a HUGE story to kick off with, in-fact. a MASSIVE STORY to make a comeback with, you will see, follow Wullie there, please, you won’t regret it

Well I am told Sevco, Rangers whatever you want to call them are 3 weeks away from being unable to function. They have no viable money to take from anyone. Ashley is being monitored by the SFA for duel club ownership or dealings. Rangers may try a mid-season ticket sale, but I am told this is not going to save them. So by the end of December the pot is really empty. Maybe Ashley’s loans were to help them till the Blue Knight’s came back or someone else. Remember a  Kieran Prior? A London financier who offered Charles Green mid August 2013 34 and 34.5 pence for Green’s five million penny shares. Well his name was mentioned. I am told Brian Kennedy has washed his hands with the current Rangers board. There are two brothers as we all know on the Rangers board who have ‘Whatever’ power, Sandy and James Easdale are in for self preservation. We are told by the media the Rangers board knocked back David King’s bid because they didn’t know if King would then get the Blue Knights in and reshuffle the game again.I don’t think we were told the full truth, the SFA ‘Might’ know, I am speculating yeah?

Why would Mr Prior come into play now?

Why would Mr Prior come into play now?

See the paper trail from David Murray signing over ownership of Rangers to Craig Whyte to now is almost impossible to trace back, this was of course done on purpose. The police have made 4 arrests and placed 2 arrest warrants out for Mr Whyte/White. I hear 2 maybe 3 more ‘may’ be arrested. So it looks like by January 1st Rangers won’t have a proverbial pot to urinate in. Many with much more info on all this will know more, if I have said something new please, go ahead and look.

Well you all kinda did

Well you all kinda did

I have no reason to not trust my source.

3 points is all that matters today. Denayer off injured we hope he is ok for Thursday. We were not superb today, we seem to make it hard for ourselves too often and today was no different.
Dundee had most of the ball in the first 15 minutes pegging Celtic back in the early staged. I thought the relationship, as Ronny would say between defence and midfield and strikers wasn’t there today. Commons and Forrest got some time on the park, so looking back in was an ‘ok’ day.
Celtic then came more into the game, the link up play improved, Commons, Forrest, Guidetti, Van Dijk all passing up on good chances. Just before half time some wonderful wide play by James Forrest winning a free kick 2 yards from the corner flag stand side. Commons whipped in a killer cross, Stokes made a back to front post run and headed home with power, 1-0 Celtic and a goal from the training ground for sure

Stokes powers home for 1-0 just on half time

Denayer went off at half time, he seemed to be ok as he walked off so let’s hope precaution is the reason. Ambrose is a decent player, once every now and then. I don’t think he is a bomb scare, he is just too relaxed, when 50,000 people and everyone watching around the World get all panicky, Efe just seems to be confident. He nearly got caught a few times but Craig Gordon and Van Dijk saved him.
2-0 came 9 minutes into the second half, again Forrest with a superb run got himself to the goal line cut it back to the penalty spot and ‘Super John Guidetti’ doesn’t miss from there. 2-0, game over, let’s all relax with a cup of Bovril and enjoy the rest of the game…

Celtic lately have done this, got ahead and then lost a goal or didn’t get the 2nd goal, thankfully luck has been on our side the last 2 months or so. Games we should have dropped points we never, so with no Brown and a few injures, Lustig also, we take today’s score.
Dundee did manage a goal through Clarkson, a fine signing for Dundee he has turned out to be. Ball into the box, nobody willing to attack it and 2-1. It made the last 20 minutes hard but looking back I think we had more chances to get a 3rd goal. Kayal had the ball in the net on 92 minutes and I will have to see it again, he looked onside to me
We now await Red Bull Strasberg on Thursday, we need to win. I hope we can fill the stadium and get the job done with a game to spare. Top of the league, nearly through in the Europa League with room to spare and in the Semi Final of the league cup, in reality we can’t ask for much more after the start to the season we had

Final score: Celtic 2-1 Dundee

Man of the match: James Forrest

Celtic agree to pay all staff ‘living wage’

_79170227_hi024778889

Great move by Celtic – £7.85 ( $12.31) Still low for the national average. But a move in the right direction!

By @ShaunyGibson – Used to be @ ShaunyNews

CELTIC have pledged to pay all staff a minimum hourly rate of £7.85 an hour, the equivalent to the new ‘Living Wage’.However, the club have stopped short of signing up to the Living Wage scheme itself, declaring that it would mean ‘handing over decision-making on salaries to another agency.’Celtic have been under mounting pressure for the past 12 months from its own fans as well as campaigners and politicians to introduce a minimum wage for all workers employed by the club – including those via external contractors. The club refused at last year’s AGM to bring about a ‘living wage’ for its employees, claiming that it would cost over £500,000 to set up.At this year’s AGM, however, Celtic chairman Ian Bankier said that the board understood ‘this is an important issue and have listened’, before pledging to introduce the £7.85 minimum wage.Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell added that the club board could not accept the Celtic Trust’s resolution to introduce the Living Wage, but would speak with staff over the new salary.

5 Month Report Card On Ronny Deila

This job means a lot to Ronny, no doubting it now

This job means a lot to Ronny, no doubting it now

By @ShaunyGibson  Used to be @ShaunyNews

6 June 2014, just over 5 Months ago now since Ronny was announced as Celtic Manager. We were unsure and probably still are in some quarters. At first we all liked the way he spoke, his philosophy on football and the way he wanted to play. I think since then Ronny has grown into being the manager of one of the top sides in the World. Ronny will look back at some of the things he has said and cringe all managers do. But what we are slowly seeing is the winner in Ronny starting to appear. He is not shy with the media anymore, I remember he did an interview and people wrote about how his hands were covering his face and tried to say whatever about why he did it. Looking back I think Ronny underestimated not just the job at hand but the expectation level that comes with being Celtic manager.

On Sunday against Aberdeen we had a chance to go top of the league, we had flown back from Europa League duty on the Friday giving Celtic just one day to prepare for the game. Looking back the game was huge. The scenes at the end with the fans and the players were superb, then in step Ronny Deila, what we seen was a man with the weight of the World taken from his shoulders, till the next game that is. We seen the hunger in the man, we seen the fire in his celebration with the fans. This I think will be a defining moment for Ronny and his players.

I have always believed a football manager must believe in himself before his players will believe in him. Sunday showed proof that Ronny has his dressing room for sure. The player respect their manager. I think at first it took a while judging body language at the time. We have the Stokes refusing to shake Ronny’s hand in pre-season, something I think Ronny would have told Stokes was a NO-NO!

Ronny StokesLooking back to that moment I really did think ‘Ronny doesn’t have his dressing room’ I managed much lower level, East Of Scotland with kids and adults, I knew when players didn’t like me, but 9/10 I got them on-side. 2 options are open to you as a manager, work the player out the club or sit down with the player and show friendship is there outside football, I believe this is what Ronny did with Stokes back then in the early days when we were rolling teams over in pre-season. As a player, if your manager puts his hand out, you best well shake it!

As we toiled out of the Champions league and were given two shots at it we ended up in the Europa league where we not need 1 point from a possible 6 or for Astra to take something from Zagreb. So we could be top of the league, last 32 of the Europa and Final of the League cup come the end of January. If all that happens, Ronny will have won his doubters over, well some.

Starting to run games for Celtic

Starting to run games for Celtic

A big plus for Ronny and Celtic is the sudden huge improvement in a player Ronny saved from the scrap heap back in Norway 3 seasons ago in Stefan Johansen, he is starting to create and score goals, he is a midfield player we have been crying out for. Many tried to compare him to Joe Ledley and unfairly in my opinion, Johansen is a kid at this level at the ripe age of 23, he will only get better and better. Craig Gordon has been superb, Denayer a huge plus and the team when all fit you see a decent side there. I think Brown getting injured in pre-season didn’t help Ronny but when others may have faded into the background, withdrawn into themselves, Ronny made himself show in-front of the media, he was asked awkward questions but here we are early November and we have a Manager who is learning to cope with the Scottish media and the Scottish game and Celtic as a club.We are seeing a team come together, Ronny was hit by “You must give your team chips” The European way is hard way in Scotland, maybe as a country we are ready for new ideas, look below, the players are bonding well and this ‘might’ keep players here, understand not all player are after a pay check, Larsson was one, he wanted moments and he got them

We are on a good run now and I truly believe we have a gem of a manager in Ronny. His tactics are becoming more visible, his formation I can see now, he plays a very attack minded game, when say, Izzy goes forward, the left winger sits, when Van Dijk comes forward with the ball you will see Brown, Mulgrew or Johansen fill the gap. It takes a long time to create this knowing what is around you on the pitch. Ronny said himself he had very little time to coach the players so much of his coaching will have been done during games and going over videos of games. Either way, I really think we are slowly starting to see something happening, it could be superb. Add in Guidetti who by all accounts wants to stay, the future looks good good for Ronny and Celtic

UNICEF and War Child to be beneficiaries of Celtic FC Charity Match!

Celtic Maestrio Spash Page

War Child and UNICEF is what Celtic are helping in this game

War Child and UNICEF is what Celtic are helping in this game

Celtic Football Club, the club I write for were formed in 1888 as a Charitable club, 126 years on we as a club are still very proud of our ways. We are playing a game. Meastrio is an Ex player Paul McStay against Ex Manchester United player Rio Ferdinad’s side. It will be a 60,000 sell out at Celtic park and every penny will go to UNICEF and War Child  Being from Edinburgh and supporting Glasgow Celtic you get the odd idiot saying “Support a team from Edinburgh” But I love the Charity arm of Celtic Football club.

Celtic FC Foundation and the Rio Ferdinand Foundation today announced the beneficiaries of their ‘Maestrio’ legends’ charity match – McStay’s Maestros v Rio’s All Stars.

The unique event will take place at Celtic Park on Sunday, September 7 (KO: 2pm) and net proceeds will be split equally between Celtic FC Foundation and the Rio Ferdinand Foundation to support children and young people facing poverty and disadvantage at home and overseas. Celtic FC Foundation* have selected UNICEF and WAR CHILD as main beneficiaries and the Club’s charitable arm will assist in their humanitarian work in a number of current Middle East countries.   Funds will also assist local projects. However, one of Celtic’s principal areas of work will be to provide international aid and support through these well-respected charities.

Just Can’t Get Enough, by The Thai Tims kids

https://www.facebook.com/ThaiTims

The Thai Tims were kids Celtic helped with a School and education and more. We paid for them to visit Celtic Park! From Thailand to Scotland

Also they played in a huge hall, it was amazing to see where my Celtic money goes! We filled Concert halls for days

Celtic FC Foundation CEO, Tony Hamilton, said: “From our living rooms we have all witnessed some of the terrible vivid horror of conflict in recent days and the particular effects that these events have had on children.

“The work of UNICEF and War Child takes no sides but simply cares for all the innocent victims of conflict on a humanitarian level. The match in September will bring together some great names in football who want to make a difference. “We hope as many supporters as possible can join us to assist children and their families who so desperately need our help.”

Rio Ferdinand Foundation CEO, Gary Stannett MBE, said: “Children, young people and families are the future of any community, and we all have a responsibility and moral obligation to help wherever it is needed, either on our doorstep in Glasgow and London or internationally where conflict and absolute poverty are so visible. “Funds raised from the Maestrio match will support us in continuing our work that has the ongoing aims of eradicating the threat of poverty, violence and trauma towards our young people and provide much needed humanitarian relief in conflict areas. “It is absolutely fantastic for us to be involved in such a prestigious event and I would like to thank Celtic FC again and all the players who have given up their time, expertise and resources to make the Maestrio game happen.

“We are proud that the Rio Ferdinand Foundation can work with Celtic FC Foundation, War Child and UNICEF to change lives of young people and families around the world.” Jane Cooper, UNICEF UK Director of Communication, said: “UNICEF works to save and protect the rights of all children, no matter what their race, religion or background. “Many hundreds of thousands of children throughout the Middle East are living without access to basic life-saving essentials, such as food, clean water and shelter.

“We would like to thank Celtic for supporting our work in the region and helping to make these children’s lives a little bit better.” War Child CEO, Rob Williams, said: “We are delighted to have this support from Celtic FC Foundation. “The money raised will go towards helping some of the world’s most vulnerable children, who are facing the most brutal conflicts on a daily basis. As a non-political, impartial organisation we work to reach the children most in need through our child protection centres, through trauma counselling, and through maintaining their education. On behalf of War Child – thank you.”

Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth games opening ceremony tonight – At the home of Celtic FC

How it will look tonight at the home of my team, Celtic FC

How it will look tonight at the home of my team, Celtic FC

Will be strange tonight watching the opening ceremony of the 2014 commonwealth games at my teams stadium. It will packed to the rafters, 62,000+ there tonight. Due to this Celtic FC are having to play important games in Edinburgh at Murryfield Stadium, the home of Scottish Rugby. http://thecelticnetwork.com/2014/07/22/celtic-rout-kr-reykjavik-await-next-opponents-goals-video/

Sir Chris Hoy says Glasgow will deliver “the biggest and best Commonwealth Games we’ve ever seen”, ahead of Wednesday’s opening ceremony. About 4,500 athletes from 71 nations will take part in the 20th edition of the Games, which run until 3 August.

“It’s going to be spectacular,” said Scotland’s six-time Olympic and double Commonwealth champion.
Swimmer Michael Jamieson, a big Scots medal hope, added: “You can already see there’s a buzz around the city.”
The 25-year-old silver medallist from the 2012 Olympics, who is chasing 200m breaststroke gold on the opening day of action on Thursday, said: “It’s known as the friendly Games for a reason. It just has such a great feel about it.” The reputation of the Commonwealth Games was damaged by the 2010 Games in Delhi, which were plagued by poor ticket sales and problems with venues and accommodation. Organisers were forced to give away thousands of free tickets after seats remained unsold, but that still could not prevent images of half-empty venues being beamed around the world, but Hoy is confident there will be no repeat in Glasgow.

Judo player Euan Burton will carry the Scottish flag at the opening ceremony

Judo player Euan Burton will carry the Scottish flag at the opening ceremony

“We’ve been ready for the last year and a half,” added the former track cyclist, who retired in 2013. “Everyone’s desperate to get started.”
Commonwealth Games Scotland chairman Michael Cavanagh added: “There’s an enormous buzz in Glasgow and that’s just going to continue. “It’s going to be absolutely fantastic and the opening ceremony will be extraordinary and get us off to a terrific start.” Glasgow began preparing for the Games, which features 18 sports across 11 days of competition, in 2007, when it beat Nigeria’s capital Abuja in the vote to stage the event.
