3 points is all that matters today. Denayer off injured we hope he is ok for Thursday. We were not superb today, we seem to make it hard for ourselves too often and today was no different.
Dundee had most of the ball in the first 15 minutes pegging Celtic back in the early staged. I thought the relationship, as Ronny would say between defence and midfield and strikers wasn’t there today. Commons and Forrest got some time on the park, so looking back in was an ‘ok’ day.
Celtic then came more into the game, the link up play improved, Commons, Forrest, Guidetti, Van Dijk all passing up on good chances. Just before half time some wonderful wide play by James Forrest winning a free kick 2 yards from the corner flag stand side. Commons whipped in a killer cross, Stokes made a back to front post run and headed home with power, 1-0 Celtic and a goal from the training ground for sure

Denayer went off at half time, he seemed to be ok as he walked off so let’s hope precaution is the reason. Ambrose is a decent player, once every now and then. I don’t think he is a bomb scare, he is just too relaxed, when 50,000 people and everyone watching around the World get all panicky, Efe just seems to be confident. He nearly got caught a few times but Craig Gordon and Van Dijk saved him.
2-0 came 9 minutes into the second half, again Forrest with a superb run got himself to the goal line cut it back to the penalty spot and ‘Super John Guidetti’ doesn’t miss from there. 2-0, game over, let’s all relax with a cup of Bovril and enjoy the rest of the game…

Celtic lately have done this, got ahead and then lost a goal or didn’t get the 2nd goal, thankfully luck has been on our side the last 2 months or so. Games we should have dropped points we never, so with no Brown and a few injures, Lustig also, we take today’s score.
Dundee did manage a goal through Clarkson, a fine signing for Dundee he has turned out to be. Ball into the box, nobody willing to attack it and 2-1. It made the last 20 minutes hard but looking back I think we had more chances to get a 3rd goal. Kayal had the ball in the net on 92 minutes and I will have to see it again, he looked onside to me
We now await Red Bull Strasberg on Thursday, we need to win. I hope we can fill the stadium and get the job done with a game to spare. Top of the league, nearly through in the Europa League with room to spare and in the Semi Final of the league cup, in reality we can’t ask for much more after the start to the season we had

Final score: Celtic 2-1 Dundee

Man of the match: James Forrest

BBC 5 Live struggled to find enough No voters for Dundee independence debate

Victoria Derbyshire will host the debate from Dundee

Victoria Derbyshire will host the debate from Dundee

Producers of a live BBC independence referendum debate in Dundee struggled to find enough No voters to fill the audience.

A number of people have contacted the Courier saying they have been invited to BBC 5 Live’s debate at the Caird Hall on Tuesday as programme makers admitted to them they were struggling to get a balanced Yes/No split. The corporation is adamant it has now managed to secure a balanced audience ahead of the show going out live at 10am. One attendee told The Courier: “I got a call from BBC 5 Live trying to drum up people for the Caird Hall debate next week. Said they were struggling to get No-voting crowd members. “They said they were trying to get a 50/50 audience split but finding it hard.”

A Yes voter who will be taking part in the debate even took to the internet to try to persuade his opponents to join him in the audience. He said: “I am going along to a Radio 5 independence debate on Tuesday. Having spoken to the researchers they informed me that they need more No voters to balance up the debate. “If you are a No voter and you fancy getting involved then PM (private message) please.”

Victoria Derbyshire will host the live Scottish Referendum debate. She will be joined by 300 members of the public who will grill a panel of politicians and business figures representing both sides of the referendum debate. MSP Shona Robison, Denis Canavan and Business for Scotland director Ivan McKee will state the case for independence. Scottish Conservatives’ leader Ruth Davidson, Jo Swinson MP and businesswoman Ruth McKay will represent Better Together.

A BBC spokeswoman said: “We have a confirmed audience of around 300 people — which is balanced with an equal number of yes to no voters. “Finding and balancing an audience of this size takes time. We did reach our quota of yes voters first which meant we spent a period of time specifically targeting no voters in order to balance numbers. “This is normal in a programme of this type where political balance is required.”

Celtic have won 1 point from 6 from an away game to ICT and today against Dundee, Celtic should and deserved to lose today, make no mistake Celtic were amateurish today, we had no leaders, we didn’t press the ball, we didn’t get the ball wide and when we did it was Ambrose, we don’t have a true striker, the best striker we have scored our goal and it was a heavy deflection at that, this is the worst Celtic team in many years. Ronny I am sorry, I hate to criticise ANY Celtic manager or player but we are just awful

The defence, midfield and attack are just way out of sync, there is none of the easy on the eye football we seen in the last several years, it is flat and we have no ideas when we have the ball. Credit to Dundee for today’s game as they deserved to win this game 4-1 at least in the last 20 minutes Dundee had 5 chances 2 saved and 3 just wide, Celtic I can’t remember any shots apart from Griffiths goal.

We need this lad on the park, end off!

We need this lad on the park, end off!

Peter Lawwell can dress this situation up all day but we the fans can see through his bluff, he has a manager who has got no idea how to set a team up. When a manager comes to a team that was working well he lets it stay that way and introduce change slowly over a season, but no Ronny is forcing a tactical shape to the team we don’t have the players for, it may have worked for Ronny at his last team, but getting beat by ICT and 1-1 away to Dundee is a disgrace. Add to that getting put out of the Champions league, reinstated and put out again, we have NOTHING. The goals Commons got last season were from wide areas. We miss Samaras badly and I don’t care what anyone says, we are missing Scott Brown also. We are downgrading badly. We can only hope Wakaso, Tonev and the incoming Stefan Scepovic can help. For Scepovic to work we MUST get the ball wide more, we are 30 yards out and clueless. The ONLY positive today is, I hope, we see more Griffiths and less Berget. Griffiths will get 20 goals a season and create, people wonder why we get loan players in, thank GOD we never paid for Berget

I have nothing else to write, we are rubbish just now, Dundee and ICT seem better than us. I fear this could be a long  hard season, I hope the 3 players I mention and Brown and Forrest coming back help but with a manager like Ronny who played Berget and dropped Commons in Europe we can’t be sure

Dreadful, no excuses, just very very poor from a very average Celtic side, we can’t get worse so we hope we can pick it up, sadly I think Ronny talks a good game

Glasgow Flying Palestinian Flag Prompts Row – Scotland solidarity with Palestine

Glasgow Flying Palestinian Flag Prompts Row

40 miles from my house in Glasgow there was huge Pro-Palestine event, the council in Glasgow are coming under HEAVY attack from all sides for flying that flag over a government building. This was Glasgow/Scotland swhowing support for the genocide in Gaza. Glasgow’s council has provoked controversy by flying the flag of the Palestinian people from the City Hall. The council said it had decided to fly the flag – a green, white and black tricolour with a red triangle at one end – as a mark of support for those affected by the violence in Gaza. The banner was erected on one of the flag poles outside Glasgow City Hall on Friday morning. It came about after the mayor of Bethlehem, which in twinned with Glasgow, wrote to the city’s Lord Provost, asking Glasgow to show solidarity. Although Bethlehem is in the West Bank, the city council said it felt it was necessary to fly the flag to support all the people in the Palestinian Territories. It has prompted outrage from Jewish groups, who say it will not achieve anything.

Jewish Representative Council president Paul Morron told Sky News: “Flying the Palestinian flag achieves nothing. “It’s the worst form of politics. It’s not going to change views and minds. Glasgow council should also be flying the Israeli flag.” A letter sent to the Mayor of Bethlehem from Glasgow’s Lord Provost, Councillor Sadie Docherty, said: “I offer heartfelt sympathy to the people of Gaza who are suffering during this most recent outbreak of violence. “Glasgow is home to many friends of Palestine and this is a deeply distressing time for them. “They represent a variety of ethnicities, political persuasions, faiths and none. However, they are united by a common desire to support the Palestinian people.

“In solidarity with Bethlehem and Palestine, Glasgow City Council will raise the Palestinian flag on Friday August 8.” Councillor Archie Graham, deputy leader of Glasgow City Council, said the council had had a lot of emails from residents asking for them to show their support for the people of Gaza He told Media: “If any of our twin cities find themselves in difficulties, then we jump to help, of course we do. “We met with people from the Jewish Representative Council … The last thing we want to do is offend anyone and we absolutely condemn any anti-Semitism anywhere and we feel for the victims of the conflict no matter which side they are on. “We are working with the Jewish Representative Council to try and allay any fears they might have but we feel absolutely that we have to show solidarity with the victims of this conflict, many of whom are innocent children.”
