OUTRAGE as Mikaeel Kular’s killer mum jailed for 11 years

The story of young Mikaeel Kular the kid murdered by his Mother ended today when she plead guilty, she was given 11 years and could be out in as little as 4 years from now. Edinburgh and it’s people are going crazy over this news. It has came out in the last hour or so. She saved the family of sitting through a Murder Trial but at the same time 11 years for taking the life of a child is unjust and there will appeals by the Prosecutor of Edinburgh to get a tougher sentence. Here are a few blogs to jog the memory https://acenewsdesk.wordpress.com/?s=Mikaeel+Kular

Rosdeep Adekoya, 34, who last month admitted killing her three-year-old son Mikaeel Kular, has been jailed for 11 years at the High Court in Edinburgh.

She lost her temper and killed the toddler after he was repeatedly sick following a family day out at a Nando’s restaurant in January. After discovering his body on the floor of their Edinburgh home, she wrapped it in a duvet cover, concealed it in the suitcase and drove 25 miles to Fife to hide it in woodland. A major search was launched for the youngster after she called 999 and reported him missing in an effort to conceal the crime. She finally broke down and admitted to police: “It was an accident and I panicked.” Adekoya was charged with Mikaeel’s murder but pleaded guilty to the reduced charge of culpable homicide at the High Court in Edinburgh, where she is due to be sentenced today. She admitted a separate charge of attempting to defeat the ends of justice by pretending to police he had gone missing.

The court heard Adekoya’s internet history showed searches including “I find it hard to love my son”, “Why am I so aggressive with my son” and “Get rid of bruises”. Mikaeel died on the night of Tuesday January 14 from injuries inflicted the previous Sunday following the restaurant outing. He was smacked and struck on the body and head with a clenched fist after vomiting repeatedly. Adekoya, a prisoner at Cornton Vale prison, Stirling, dragged him to the shower by his arms and “beat him heavily” on his back as he lay over the bath edge, causing internal damage. He was kept off nursery as his condition deteriorated and by Tuesday night he was “listless”.

Advocate depute Alex Prentice told the court: “He would have been in significant pain but was put to bed. “The pain would have increased significantly while Mikaeel became dangerously ill … finally dying as a result of the injuries inflicted upon him by the accused. “It was during that night that he died.” Adekoya put her son’s body in a suitcase which she carried to the boot of her car, before taking his twin sister to nursery. She left the suitcase in woodland behind her sister’s house in Dunvegan Avenue, Kirkcaldy, covering it with branches.

Inconsistencies began to appear in her account of events to police after she reported her son missing on Thursday morning and she eventually broke down and took them to his body. The final cause of Mikaeel’s death was found to be “blunt force abdominal trauma” and the court heard he had more than 40 separate injuries to his body. Defence QC Brian McConnachie told the court: “Rosdeep Adekoya is not a monster.” “It appears from every source … that this has been a brief period when this young woman has lost her temper and behaved in a way which is totally out of character for her.”

John Dunn, Procurator Fiscal for the East of Scotland, said: “There can be few crimes more shocking than a parent killing their child. “From the outset of the case, and working closely with the Police, the Crown has led an extremely thorough investigation in to the circumstances surrounding Mikaeel’s death. “All of the facts and circumstances of the case were carefully considered by Crown Counsel. “Having considered all the evidence in the case, including that of expert pathologists, Crown Counsel concluded that pleas of guilty to charges of culpable homicide and attempting to defeat the ends of justice were appropriate.” An independent significant case review is to be held after it emerged social services had stopped monitoring the family weeks before Mikaeel’s death.

Mikaeel Kular ‘Assaulted Over Four Days By Mum’ then put in suitcase

Mikaeel Kular’s death in January this year shocked the local community

As I blogged on the 7th, the court case has started: https://acenewsdesk.wordpress.com/2014/07/07/mum-of-tragic-mikaeel-kular-to-appear-in-court-tomorrow-accused-of-beating-tot-to-death-over-4-days/

A court hears the three-year-old’s mum murdered him, wrapped his body in a duvet and lied to police, sparking a huge search.

The mother of three-year-old Mikaeel Kular assaulted him over four days, wrapped his body in a duvet and shut it inside a suitcase, a court has heard. Rosdeep Adekoya, 34, is accused of assaulting her son at their home in Ferry Gait Crescent, Edinburgh, before hiding his body in a wood more than 20 miles away. It is claimed she murdered Mikaeel after punching him, causing his body to hit against a hard object and inflicting blunt force injuries on his head and body between January 12 and 15, 2014. She is also charged with attempting to defeat the ends of justice by lying to police, having allegedly made a 999 call in which she claimed her son had gone missing after climbing onto a stool and unlocking the front door of his home. Mikaeel’s disappearance in January sparked a huge search involving police officers, firefighters, mountain rescue teams and the coastguard, as well as members of the public. His body was eventually found hidden beneath a bush in woodland behind a house in Dunvegan Avenue, Fife. Adekoya, who is being held at Cornton Vale prison in Stirlingshire and has not yet entered a plea, made a two-minute appearance at the High Court in Edinburgh. The judge Lord Boyd continued the case until July 25 at the request of both the prosecution and the defence, who said the case had a “number of complexities”.

Mikaeel and his Mother whom is accused of killing her son last year

I will try let you all know every day what happened in court. I am trying to go on Thursday, I will take pictures and show you all what is happening.

Mum of tragic Mikaeel Kular to appear in court tomorrow accused of beating tot to death over 4 days

Mikaeel was the same age as my Daughter. We know the family.

MIKAEEL Kular’s mum will appear in court tomorrow accused of beating her toddler son to death over a four-day period before dumping his body in a suitcase. This happened last year and is now ready for court. I have it on good authority she has been beaten several times in the Woman’s wing of Edinburgh’s Saughton Prison

The indictment against Rosdeep Kular states she murdered the three-year-old by repeatedly striking him on the head and body and then failing to summon medical help.

She is accused of then wrapping his body in a duvet cover and transporting it in the suitcase from the family home in Edinburgh to Kirkcaldy, Fife, and dumping it in woods.

Mikaeel and his Mother charged with his murder

The 34-year-old, indicted under her married surname of Adekoya, is alleged to have tried to cover up the murder by concocting a story that the youngster had wandered off from home in the middle of the night, sparking a major search.

This story tore my city to bits. These things don’t happen here.

The mother-of-five, who is currently being held at Cornton Vale Prison, near Stirling is due to appear for a preliminary hearing at the High Court in Edinburgh.

Thousands of people joined in alongside the police in the search for Mikaeel after he was reported missing on January 16 this year.

Together, we helped each other through

But their hopes were dashed when his body was discovered 30 miles away, behind a house in Kirkcaldy, Fife, on the second day of the search.

I Seen police and forensic teams cry that week

We all cried watching this live

What human can do this? What makes a person do this?
