Looking back on Scotland’s ‘No Vote’ – Why?

English people pretending to be Scottish

English people pretending to be Scottish

By @ShaunyGibson – Used to be @ ShaunyNews

Looking back on the whole year we all wrote, read and tried to free Scotland from a Union we still could and can leave within a few years, it makes me sad. I done so many articles, Audio blogs and said “VOTE FOR SELFISH REASONS WE WILL LOSE” This is EXACTLY what happened peeps https://acenewsdesk.wordpress.com/2014/07/13/why-we-cant-be-selfish-in-this-vote-scotland/ Some of us fell for the BBC Lies, the lies about Banks, banks who never actually said these things same as the Oil industry, the BBC tricked us, yet people STILL watch the BBC and pay a TV Licence. Some fell for Gordon Brown’s promises, yeah the same Gordon Brown who has retired a Multi-millionaire not a million miles from me to live his life in utter riches, same as Johann Lamont who after the no vote ran for the hills KNOWING she did wrong and to be fair her conscience got the best of her. Some believed DAVID CAMERON AND ED MILIBAND!  And most of the %’s of people who votes no were lied to in 1979 when we actually freed ourselves but were not allowed to leave. I still shake my head at the selfish people who voted no. Tommy Sheridan is a man I still have TONS of respect for, he did a talk almost every night for 130 days, in the end his voice gave way. I feel for everyone who pushed the Yes vote hard. But listen, we vote SNP next year! We can be free. SCOTLAND, DO NOT FALL FOR THE LIES AGAIN, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are nearing an election, so I thought I would start the ball rolling

Salmond: I’m standing for Westminster

He said “I will not stand down” after the Referendum whatever the outcome. Lets just say Alex is a VERY, VERY CLEVER MAN 😉 Watch this space. He is going to corner certain people into a corner. You will see…

Former First Minister Alex Salmond will end months of speculation and open a new chapter of his political career when he announces on Sunday that he is standing for Westminster at next year’s general election.

Salmond, who had hinted heavily that he will seek a return to the House of Commons, is expected to confirm that he is to contest the Gordon seat in the north-east as an MP. He already represents much of the area as an MSP.

One of Salmond’s closest aides told the Sunday Herald: “At our last constituency meeting over 100 local people turned up in New Deer and unanimously asked him to stand. We fully expect a positive answer in Ellon on Sunday.”

Salmond stood down as an MP in 2010 but he has spent most of his political career at Westminster. He was an MP for over 20 years between 1987 and 2010 and has served at Holyrood for around nine years.

However, the highlight of his political career was becoming First Minister in 2007 and leading his party to a landslide victory four years later.

Although he fulfilled his ambition of giving the people of Scotland a constitutional referendum, he fell short of his ultimate goal of independence.

He resigned as First Minister after Scotland voted No in the referendum, paving the way for his deputy Nicola Sturgeon to succeed him.

Within weeks of his resignation, he told BBC’s Question Time programme that the door was not closed on a return to Westminster.

The Salmond constituency aide said: “Alex can win this seat for the SNP, given that he already represents the greater part of it in the Scottish Parliament.

“His candidature will be a strong sign that the SNP intend to contest the Westminster elections to win, with a view to enforcing the vows made to the Scottish people in the referendum.

“There is great excitement that Gordon will be seen as a key seat in ensuring that Scotland makes progress and that the Westminster parties are not allowed to renege on their commitments to Scotland.

“There is no-one better able to rumble up Westminster and enforce the vow than Alex Salmond.”

It is understood Salmond will be a key part of the SNP strategy to win next year’s general election in Scotland.

If elected, is it is believed he will help put pressure on the UK Government to transfer more powers to Holyrood than was offered by the cross-party Smith Commission.

Opinion polls show the Nationalists winning a majority of seats and defeating Labour.

A recent YouGov poll, based on a sample of 1103 people living in Scotland, had the SNP leading Labour by 46% to 26%. The Liberals trailed on 6%.

The Gordon seat Salmond will contest next year is broadly similar to the Aberdeenshire East constituency he represents at Holyrood.

The Liberal Democrats won Gordon in 2010 with a majority of 6,748, but sitting MP Sir Malcolm Bruce is standing down.

His replacement is journalist and lecturer Christine Jardine.

In 2007, Salmond overturned a 4071 LibDem majority in the north-east constituency.

The SNP conference last month voted to allow non-members to stand as party candidates at the general election.

The move is aimed at activists who campaigned for Yes during the referendum, but who are not members of the SNP.

Poll: Should there be another Scottish independence referendum? – Vote Now!

Would you like to see another independence referendum?

Would you like to see another independence referendum?

By @ShaunyGibson – Used to be @ ShaunyNews

A NEW survey released this week claimed that roughly three of four Scots would want another independence referendum.

However, the exclusive poll by Survation also suggested that as many as a quarter of a million people believe their relationship with a friend or family member has been permanently damaged as a result of a run-up to September 18.

The findings come after the first SNP conference since the vote continued to be dominated by the independence question.

Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon say another referendum would be held when the Scots people want it and promise supporters it will happen “sooner than many expect” – despite previously saying the vote that it was a “once in a generation event”.  I believe by 2017

The No side claimed victory, winning 55 per cent of the votes on a huge turnout of 85 per cent.

So, now we’re asking our readers for their opinion. Should there be another independence referendum? Have your say by voting in our poll below.

Scotland – The reality of the ‘Smith Report’ – For now

pishlies

NOT EXACTLY

By @ShaunyGibson – Used to be @ ShaunyNews

Scotland gained in the Smith report, it isn’t as broad as we wanted but it will be one day, fact, this will happen. No voters I know have walked away from Labour, as we all know and this is why the SNP Membership is near 100,000 people and the SNP are the 3rd biggest party in Britain. Here is a breakdown of what happened. Come the General Election Scotland could push Labour out of the Scottish picture and rightly so. The Tory party are no threat up here, sadly UKIP are a MASSIVE Danger to Scotland. WE MUST GET SNP 90% or near in Hollyrood next year

Trainspotting Actor Peter Mullan Hits Out At ‘Bullying’ Scottish Referendum No Campaign

Many more are seeing the lies and fear being spread!! At the right time

Many more are seeing the lies and fear being spread!! At the right time

More people are having a REAL go at the No campaign, the BBC and other political liars, THANKFULLY we Scot’s are too smart to take in the lies. So we share the lies on Social media. Back in 1979 when we were lied to in the same circumstances of where we are now, we believed Westminster. Now with Social Media lies and anger and mistruth’s are shared almost right away. Yes Scotland see the lies, we have had enough, so has Peter!

#ChooseYes

Trainspotting actor actor Peter Mullan has hit out at “scaremongering” by anti-Scottish independence campaigners, branding it “deeply insulting and very patronising”. Mullan, who played Swanney in Danny Boyle’s 1996 film Trainspotting, made the comments as he campaigned for a Yes vote in Glasgow with Scottish Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon. His comments came in the wake of reports that shoppers could have to pay higher prices if Scotland votes for independence next week, and that banks and financial institutions such as Royal Bank of Scotland could move to London.

Alex Salmond has accused the UK treasury of trying to smear the Yes campaign by confirming RBS’s plans to journalists. Actor Mullan, who also starred in Children of Men, is Scottish and described himself as a ‘lifelong supporter’ of independence. He said: “The scaremongering of the last few days was hardly surprising, it wasn’t unexpected. “We all knew that they were going to throw the kitchen sink at us and now they’re basically ripping apart the entire kitchen, it’s plates, cups, saucers, knives, forks, they’re throwing at us. “It makes me angry because it is bullying of the highest order and it is intolerable.

“In fact it is getting wearisome, every day you wake up and it’s like ‘what will they come up with today, what will they dream up about this catastrophe that will befall us all?’ “It’s deeply insulting and very patronising, this notion that all of us, for the last 2,000 years, hadn’t realised how useless a country we were, how we were incapable of doing anything and how, if as part of a democratic process we choose to determine our own fate, our own destiny, then we are looking towards complete economic meltdown. I find that really insulting. The actor and director said he had never understood why Scotland “didn’t run our own affairs”.  He added: “It was just like an instinct. It’s like breathing. This is something we should never be having to ask ourselves, whether we control our own country.” He also said a Yes vote would be “huge” for Scotland’s arts and cultural sector, claiming: “It will be massive, it will unleash a huge level of creativity we couldn’t even have dreamt of 10, 20, 30, 40 years ago. The confidence it will give to the creatives in our country is incalculable.” While polls increasingly suggest the contest between pro and anti independence campaigners is too close to call, Mullan insisted: “I think it’s going to be a Yes. “When people go into that little booth and they see that very simple question, I really believe a lot of folk who are undecided, when they really think about it, when they go with their heart and their head, I think they will vote Yes.”

New ICM poll puts Yes 8 points ahead

indy_-_paul_campbell_photography._654

We all helped, we all did our bit for a fairer Scotland

Commenting on a new ICM poll for the Sunday Telegraph which puts Yes at 54 per cent and No at 46 per cent – and an Opinium poll for the Observer which puts Yes at 47 per cent and No at 53 per cent – Blair Jenkins, chief executive of Yes Scotland, said: ‘The new ICM poll gives Yes a record eight-point lead, which is hugely encouraging. Meanwhile, Opinium puts Yes behind, but just by six points.

‘Taken in the round, the polls show that the referendum is on a knife edge. There is everything to play for, and this will spur on everybody who wants and is working hard for a Yes to redouble their efforts.

4 Days aga;hgosurh;ggrfgag

4 Days away and we are romping ahead

‘As we say in response to all the polls, we are working flat out to ensure that we achieve a Yes vote, because it’s the biggest opportunity the people of Scotland will ever have to build a fairer society and more prosperous economy.’

‘A Yes vote is our one opportunity to achieve job-creating powers, protect our NHS from the damaging impact of Westminster privatisation and cuts, and ensure that never again do we get Tory governments imposed on Scotland that we have roundly rejected.’

The Opinium poll also found that Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon come out with the highest support on who the Scottish public think has done well during the campaign (51% for Mr Salmond and 48% for Ms Sturgeon), compared to 25% for Alistair Darling, 24% for Gordon Brown, 13% for David Cameron and 10% for Ed Miliband.
